Find Clarity and Guidance
I'm Katherine - mum, wife and counsellor.
I offer counselling in Perth, Western Australia, in a safe and supportive environment for you to seek help and guidance.
Whether you're dealing with personal issues, relationship problems, or mental health concerns, my goal is to help you overcome challenges and improve your well-being.
Gain a New Perspective
I will guide you through your challenges, helping you gain a fresh perspective and clarity on how to move forward in a positive direction.
I will not be judging you at all. You can talk about whatever you are dealing with and together we'll find a way through your distress.
I will encourage you to look at what actions you can take to get you to where you want to be in your life.
My Approach
I believe in providing a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your thoughts and emotions. I will work with you to understand what's working in your life and what isn't.
I don't formally diagnose like a psychologist does, nor do I prescribe medication like a psychiatrist. What I do is lend a qualified ear, listen to your struggles and make a plan with you to get the results you want in your life.
When we work together, we delve into the issues you're struggling with, and together, we work out how to approach things differently.
My Services
I offer a range of strategies to address the challenges you're dealing with and provide personalised support that meets your specific needs, helping you navigate through life's challenges and find the clarity and resilience to thrive.
I don't give you lots of advice and send you on your way. My aim is to help you view your issues from another perspective or teach you new skills that can reduce the impact of unhelpful thoughts and emotions.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between me and a psychologist?
If you need a formal diagnosis, a psychologist offering a mental health care plan (through your GP) may be your best option. My counselling, which also uses many of the evidence-based interventions of a psychologist, centres on you and what you’re dealing with and how to build new skills to deal with often difficult thoughts and feelings that go with it. Unlike a health care plan, no record of counselling appears on your health record and you can often see me within a week of our initial phone contact.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No. You can book an appointment without a referral.
Where are sessions held?
I conduct sessions at West Coast Holistic Health in City Beach. A second location in Yokine will be available soon.
What are your fees?
A 50 minute session is $130.00 for the first session and $120 for subsequent sessions payable at the beginning or end of the session. You can pay in person by card/tap or online.
The session cost is comparable to a mental health care plan out-of-pocket gap payment to a psychologist.
I offer a discount to children aged under 17.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your particular requirements - everyone is different. Most clients will see me weekly for between three to six visits. Some clients will also book booster sessions once per month. It is completely up to you.
What can I expect from my first session?
I like to find out more about you, why you have come to counselling and what you would like to achieve through counselling. We then set a plan to achieve these goals and monitor progress along the way. It’s sometimes useful to set tasks which you complete each week so you can practice new skills.
Is there a cancellation policy?
Cancellation fees are as follows:
1. 0-24 hours' notice - full fee payable.
2. 24-48 hours' notice - 50% fee payable.
Please be respectful of my schedule and contact me via email or phone to re-book.
